Former Native COO Brunner joins coworking operator Clockwise

UK: Former Native chief operating officer Alexandra Brunner has joined coworking operator Clockwise as it prepares for expansion.

Brunner, who joined Native in November 2018 from Premier Inn, will take up the role of chief operating officer. She has more than 20 years’ experience in the hospitality sector, working across various sectors and countries. As an area manager for Premier Inn, she oversaw a portfolio of 17 full service hotels. Prior to that she held various positions for The Ascott Ltd (part of CapitaLand), Jurys Inn and The Doyle Collection.

Clockwise has four properties open, in Belfast, Glasgow, Liverpool and Edinburgh, and plans to open 15 more in the next year. Its pipeline includes locations in London, Manchester, Leeds, Cheltenham and Cardiff.

Brunner said: “We’re seeing an interesting digression of bringing hospitality and the service industry into the environment of flexible workspace. Work and living are melting together, and those lines will blur even more post-Covid.”

Clockwise has also hired former CDC group technology officer Gavin Stubbs as chief information officer, and chief financial officer James Grabiner, who has joined from The Office Group.

Clockwise co-founder Michael Kovacs said: “In what has been an extremely challenging year thus far for markets across the world, Clockwise has managed to come out on top, by supporting our existing members and communities and by ensuring that we provide the best quality service and space for the changing needs of businesses, both in the near and for the long term. The future success of this business will always be driven by thinking of our members as if we were a hospitality company, and so we are proud to welcome Alex, Gavin and James and their varied experience to their respective roles and to Clockwise.”
