UK: A hotel and restaurant in Exeter city centre is set to be converted into an aparthotel.

Plans for the conversion of St Olaves Court hotel, a Grade II listed building, have been submitted by owner Simon Livingstone to the planning authority.

According to the planning application, the conversion is proposed because of the “financial viability and ongoing costs associated with running a traditional boutique hotel” following an increase in competition with national chains opening up in the city.

The plans would see major alterations made to the inside of the building. No changes are planned for the exterior of the building, aside from a possible new rear two storey extension.

The Georgian townhouse was granted listed status in 1953.</p
