Australia: Three car sales yards at Rockdale. NSW, will make way for an AUD$28.8 million ten-storey aparthotel and residential apartment block.

A development application from Chandra Property Investments has been lodged with Bayside Council to provide a Quest Hotel of 42 serviced apartments and 49 residential units.

It would replace car sales yards at 594-600 Princes Highway.

The hotel component would include a lobby and reception fronting Princes Highway, gym, large conference room and a business lounge. A separate residential lobby will be located on the south side of the building.

There will be 857 square metres of shared communal open space for residents and hotel guests located at the back of the building on the north-eastern side of the corner of the site.

This will include seating areas amongst lush planting, informal play areas, barbecue facilities for hotel guests, paved terraces and landscaping. The rooftop will have 44-metre communal open space area for residents including paving and landscaping.

The design includes two levels of basement parking for 110 vehicles, made up of 58 residential car spaces and 44 hotel car spaces.

“The architectural design is modern and the use of articulation and colour provides an interesting addition to the Rockdale Town Centre,” the DA’s Statement of Environmental Effects states. “The proposed development is likely to have only positive social and economic impacts in the locality.”</p
