US: My Place Hotels of America has broken ground on Nebraska’s second My Place hotel, located in Hastings.

The city’s community members celebrated the groundbreaking alongside My Place executives, owners, and operators at 200 East 31st Street, where construction will soon commence on the three-storey, 46-unit hotel.

Hastings’ first extended stay hotel is independently owned by DJ&R Investments, LLC., and operated by Venerts Hotel Management, Inc. It is the first My Place Hotel developed by the DJ&R partnership. Having been a co-owner of the Comfort Inn of Hastings for the past 21 years, Larry Schnase has long been a leader in both market and brand-wide performance. He chose Hastings to develop a My Place Hotel for several reasons, said project manager Harry Dworak.

“The segment of extended stay lodging has not been addressed in the past with other hotels, and the My Place brand offers a new build hotel with all of the amenities a guest may want for one or many nights,” Dworak said. “Providing a quality lodging experience has been what Larry feels is essential in building guest loyalty and long term repeat business.”

Terry Kline, My Place EVP of franchise development, said My Place is confident the Hastings location will fill the underserved niche in the Southern Nebraska market. “We are extremely pleased to partner with Larry Schnase and the team at DJ&R  as construction commences on their first My Place Hotel. Their demonstrated leadership in hotel ownership and customer service will make this location an excellent addition to the My Place family.”

My Place Hotels of America currently has 39 hotels open and operating with a near-term pipeline of 75 additional hotels and midterm commitments for upwards of 40 more hotels to follow.
