UK: Eloic Montagnier has been appointed general manager of The Gresham Aparthotel in Leicester which is due to launch later this year.

Montagnier has an extensive background in the hotel industry, including a stint as GM at Leicester’s Belmont Hotel between 2014 and 2019.

He said: “I’m delighted to be taking on the role of general manager of The Gresham Aparthotel. It’s an exciting new challenge and a brilliant opportunity to be involved in a completely new venture, in a great city that I know well. I am looking forward to being able to help shape the operation from the start. The Gresham is an iconic, stand out building and will have a unique positioning in the Leicester hotel market to match. I think it will make an important contribution to the city as well as the future regeneration of the area.”

A recruitment process to appoint staff for the aparthotel will begin in the summer with an estimated 25 new positions to be filled.

The 133-key property comprises one and two-bedroom serviced apartments, a lobby bar and restaurant, a fitness suite, four commercial units and 12,000 square feet of grade A office accommodation. It is due to open in Autumn 2021.

Snizhana Yesaulenko, director at Aimrok Holdings and managing director of principal contractor Cube Construction, said: “Employing local people has been an important factor to us. We are proud to have been able to give our construction workers continued employment throughout the pandemic, whilst ensuring it remains a safe place to work. We have found that it has built a sense of loyalty and community spirit within our teams, and our labourers have wanted to stick with us. As the development of The Gresham progresses, we are keen for this ethos to continue and we are thrilled to have appointed Eloic as the general manager. He has considerable industry experience and critically, within Leicester, and we are very much looking forward to him starting in June.”
