Germany: The first SO!APART awards, organised by internet platform apartmentservice.de, have taken place in Hamburg.

The awards ceremony was part of the two-day Partner House Conference and took place at the Adina Apartment Hotel Hamburg Michel.

Nearly 70 apartment developments in Germany were considered for the award. The five-man judging panel of industry experts awarded first prize in the ‘Die kleinen Feinen – small is beautiful’ category, for buildings with a maximum 50 apartments, to The Red in Düsseldorf.

Managers René Siemen and Klaus Fella said: “The Red has something the others don’t have, including a premium fitout and its quiet location directly next to the city centre and the Rhine. The Red is simply unique and is an absolute highlight of Düsseldorf’s hospitality industry.”

During the awards ceremony, Anett Gregorius, managing director of Berlin-based company Boardinghouse Consulting (which operates the apartmentservice.de platform) said: “This award is long overdue. We have shown that anyone looking for a temporary home in Germany now has far more choice than just a hotel room. Business travellers in particular recognised this some time ago. A well-stocked fridge, ironed shirts and fresh rolls for breakfast – individual apartments are not only more reasonably priced, but also offer the guest a home-from-home feeling whilst on the road.”
