UK: A derelict building in Liverpool city centre is to be turned into a 17 unit apart-hotel by Epic Apart-Hotel and Serviced Apartments.

The company is investing £800,000 in the renovation of 75 Duke Street. the building, in the Ropewalks area of city, has been empty since 1984.

Epic director Simon Beer said: “We are very excited to bring back to life this stunning building on Duke Street. The new apartments have been engineered in a way that a two-bedroom can become a one-bedroom if needed. This flexibility is ideal for the midweek commercial market, and further demonstrates the brand’s continued evolution.”

The project will feature a selection of “ePods” – smaller 15 square metre rooms aimed at the budget corporate traveller and weekend couples. It is expected to create 15 new jobs.

Epic has been in operation since 2012. It owns and operates 35 apartments, with a 200 bed occupancy. It is actively looking to develop further sites in Merseyside and across the UK.

In October, developer One Park Lane Limited announced its plans to include 200 serviced apartments in a major mixed-use renovation scheme in Liverpool.
