US: Sage Hospitality Group and its partners topped out at the Catbird, an extended stay hotel development in Denver’s River North Art District (RiNo).

Colorado-based Sage, along with Walnut Development Partners and EXDO Development, broke ground on the project late last year.

“Sage is thrilled to add the eclectic, expressive Catbird to our portfolio of independent hotel brands, and we look forward to creating a place in RiNo that will become a destination in and of itself,” said Sage CEO Walter Isenberg. “Along with our partners, our goal all along has been to curate a brand that adapts to the uniqueness of its neighboirhood, and we believe that Catbird will be just that.”

The property’s 165 units will have full kitchens with multifunctional furniture to facilitate extended stays. Each floor will have complimentary laundry services as well as a water-filling station that dispenses still and sparkling water. A gear locker will have bikes, skateboards, scooters, cameras and other items that will all be available for guests to borrow and use. Guests can receive packages in dedicated lockers and repeat guests can leave items in a guest storage area. A dog run is available for guests with pets. The fitness room has Peloton bikes, Peloton treadmills, rowing machines, cross trainers and free weights. The hotel also will have an extensive art collection curated by Nine dot Arts.

The rooftop will have an indoor bar and an outdoor deck with lounge seating and fire pits, as well as an additional 3,300-square-foot deck that will be dedicated to hosting corporate and social events, two Jacuzzi tubs and a patch of grass geared for morning yoga.

“It’s truly exciting to be working together with our partners to bring such an innovative project to the RiNo Art District,” said Chad Ellington of Walnut Development Partners. “We truly believe that Catbird will become a favourite for the community and visitors to the neighbourhood, and we can’t wait to welcome people through the doors.”

The overall concept for Catbird, including the amenities and food-and-beverage outlets, has been curated and directed by the team at Sage Studio, a Sage Hospitality Group company.

Denver-based architecture firm Shears Adkins Rockmore Architects led the design of the building. General construction has been led by Katerra Construction and Farrington Construction Management. Guest room interior designs are by DLR group. Lobby and rooftop interior design are by Denver-based Swan Dive Design Studio. Brand concept and design is being led by Portland-based OMFGCO.
