Thailand: Banyan Tree’s first Cassia serviced apartment project will open in Phuket in October.

Located in the Laguna Phuket complex, alongside the existing Banyan Tree and Angsana resorts, Cassia Phuket will initially feature 221 serviced residences, including one- and two-bedroom apartments, each with a separate living room and kitchen, luxury amenities and free Wi-Fi.

The property’s inventory will increase to 326 residences in 2017, following the completion of a second tower.

Cassia Phuket will also offer a range of hotel-style facilities, including two swimming pools, a private section of beach, a spa, fitness centre, kids’ play area and touch-screen concierge. F&B options include the Market 23 Cafe and Street Bar, which will host DJs. Alternatively, guests can shop at the resort’s convenience store or arrange for food to be delivered to their apartment from local restaurants.

“Cassia merges three of the group’s strengths, hospitality, design and real estate, to set the stage for the hotel residences of the future,” Banyan Tree’s executive chairman, Ho Kwon Ping, said when announcing the brand. “The extended stay segment has been overlooked in recent years so we took the opportunity to innovate and create a hospitality product that meets the demands and needs of today’s travellers.”

Following its Phuket debut,  Cassia properties are expected to launch on the Indonesian island of Bintan, the Sri Lankan beach resort of Beruwala, Queensland’s Gold Coast and Chinese UNESCO-listed ancient city, Lijiang. Future developments are also being planned in Brisbane, New York, the Seychelles, Chiang Mai, Bangkok and at the Laguna Lang Co resort complex in Vietnam.
