US: AKA Rittenhouse Square will be donating furnishings to Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia’s ReStore as it undergoes a refurbishment.

AKA Rittenhouse Square, located on the corner of 18th and Walnut Streets, will be contributing kitchen cabinetry and appliances, countertops, bathroom vanities, televisions and more from 35 suites, as the 13-storey historic landmark undergoes renovations.

The property enhancements, to be unveiled in spring, will feature a newly designed lobby, a collection of reimagined suites and new amenities.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a non-profit home improvement store and donation centre selling affordable, new and used furniture, appliances, home accessories and building materials. Items will be removed from AKA and brought to the store to be sold to the public.

“100 per cent of the profit made from our ReStore goes back into building and repairing homes for Philadelphians, including veterans and seniors. The high-quality furnishings within this donation will be exciting for our customers and will have an extraordinary impact on the organisation,” said Greg Bradley, individual giving manager of Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia. “These types of materials are vital to the success of the Philadelphia Habitat for Humanity ReStore.”

AKA president Larry Korman said: “Since AKA’s high standard and passion for design leads us to refresh properties regularly, the furnishings being donated from AKA Rittenhouse Square are modern, stylish, and in excellent condition. Philanthropy is in the DNA of our company, and Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia is an incredible non-profit organisation that we’re proud to partner with.”
