Ireland: Marlet, a Dublin property group backed by M&G Investments, has revealed plans for a major mixed-use scheme near the Guinness Storehouse in the Irish capital.

The company has submitted revised plans for a large site at Grand Canal Harbour in Dublin 8, where there is existing permission for an office-led scheme with a medical centre and aparthotel. Marlet aims to increase the size of the development to include a 256-bedroom hotel, a 507-unit aparthotel, and student accommodation with 638 bed spaces.

Pat Crean, chief executive of Marlet, said the project, with six buildings of up to 13 storeys, would be a “key development” in close proximity to the Guinness Storehouse and the new National Children’s Hospital. “The accommodation will be of particular interest to staff and users of the hospital,” he said.

The site was previously owned by construction group Laing O’Rourke. It sold the property in July last year for €32.5 million.

Marlet is also planning an aparthotel as part of a mixed-use scheme in Dublin’s Abbey Street, close to the Jervis shopping centre.
