US: Wichita-based WaterWalk Hotel Apartments has secured a $100 million deal with Henley to add five franchises across the country.

Henley will open WaterWalk Hotel Apartments facilities in Albany, N.Y., Charlotte, N.C., Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and North Orlando, Fla. Construction on those projects is expected to start in January.

Henley is the first non-US based franchisee to sign with WaterWalk Hotel Apartments, and the deal also marks the first transatlantic agreement for Henley, which was founded in 2006.

“The deal with WaterWalk represents another major milestone for Henley as we further our international presence and enter the U.S. market,” Ian Rickwood, Henley’s CEO, said in a statement. “Our investment strategy is founded upon ensuring the best possible returns for our investors. Our analysis of current demand trends in the leisure and residential markets in the states made WaterWalk a highly attractive investment opportunity.”

The WaterWalk Hotel Apartments concept – the fifth brand developed by extended stay pioneer Jack DeBoer – combines apartment living and an extended-stay hotel into one facility.

Other WaterWalk projects are under way in Wichita, Louisville, Denver, Raleigh, Tulsa, and San Antonio.
