UK: The Other House has hired Paul Jonker as development director to assist with the launch of the brand’s first properties.

The Other House is a hospitality brand that attempts to blur the lines between hotels, serviced apartments, and private rentals. This new brand has been put forward by the Portfolio Club, a joint venture between London Central Portfolio and APG, a pension provider, forged in late 2019.

The Other House will aim to combine the benefits of home and the facilities of a hotel in its two properties in central London, with future acquisitions planned. The two properties, Harrington Hall in South Kensington and Wellington Block in Covent Garden, will each hold about 200 flats designed for any length of stay and are set to open in Spring 2022. Each property will need a substantial amount of development and refurbishment before opening.

Jonker will oversee the development of the Wellington Block location in his new role as development director. Jonker knows Covent Garden well as he has worked nearby in the past.

Jonker has an array of experiences and skills from his more than 23 years in the construction industry. He has overseen a number of developments from beginning to end and has held a number of senior project management and development roles. Most recently, Jonker worked as development director UK at Sydell Group, where he led many hospitality developments such as The Ned and NoMad London.

Prior to the Sydell Group, Jonker worked as project manager at Heathrow Airport, managing hospitality developments and technology upgrades, and associate director of Warwick Avenue Limited, managing hotel and leisure projects for clients like Accor Group.

Additionally, Jonker practiced architecture for nine years with practises such as HOK International and Building Design Partnership.
