UK: Percor Capital has opened the first Staybridge Suites in Scotland, a sister development to its Hotel Indigo Dundee project.

The 85-key development sits beside Hotel Indigo and completes Percor Capital’s £24 million project to convert the Grade A listed building which formerly housed the Baxter Brothers linen mill in Constable Street.

The development is a mixture of studio and one-bedroom units, some of which are on split levels. The apartments come with fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities, as well as a gym and regular social events for residents.

Percor Capital director Jean-Pierre Permutt said: “Indigo Hotel and Staybridge Suites are franchises we’ve taken from the Intercontinental Hotels Group. Indigo is a four-star boutique lifestyle hotel designed for short stays whereas the Staybridge Suites is designed for a longer-term customer. The suites are for people with more residential type needs – contractors based up here who need a home for home with all the usual trimmings you would want. It’s got all the benefits of a hotel but a ‘home from home’ feel. We think it’s an interesting proposition – the design is modern and functional sitting within a classic building.”

Many of the units retain original features including brick ceilings and iron beams.

Dianna Bruce, general manager of Staybridge Suites Dundee, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be opening Scotland’s first Staybridge Suites in Dundee. Designed for the modern traveller, we have created a hotel where our guests can live rather than merely stay, and it’s perfect for business and family travellers alike.”
