US: Construction will start next month on a dual-branded MainStay Suites and Sleep Inn property in Rockledge, Florida.

The 86-key hotel will feature units from both Choice Hotels brands, with one side of the building home to MainStay Suites unit that include kitchens with stoves and full-size refrigerators.

Developer Jack Brown likened the layouts of those suites to that of a small apartment, with a sleeping area, a sitting room and a full-service kitchen.

Brown said the extended stay offerings cater to the USSSA Space Coast Sports Complex. That complex just down the road on Stadium Parkway hosts national sports tournaments. Players and their families have a need for longer-term lodging than traditional hotels provide, Brown said. The full-service kitchens can allow players to cook their own meals instead of eating out each day.

The design will be identical to a hotel Brown already developed in Sarasota that opened in September 2018.

Construction will begin on March 1, with the property opening in autumn 2021.

“Brevard has been a sleeper market that’s just bursting now to be a very growth-oriented area,” Brown said of the local area. “This is one of the counties that’s prospering from movement northward. Maybe it’s not quite as warm all the time as it is Miami, but we don’t have all the traffic either.”
