UK: Extended stay hotel specialist Cycas Hospitality has signed a deal to operate a Hyatt Place hotel in east London.

The deal is Cycas’s fourth collaboration to manage Hyatt’s select service hotel brand in Europe; and its second Hyatt Place in the UK capital.

Due to open in 2020, the 280-room Hyatt Place London City/East at Black Lion House on Whitechapel Road in Aldgate is situated close to London’s financial district. The hotel will feature a ninth-floor lounge and terrace, with views across the capital, plus a flexible meeting room concept, further lobby area, inner courtyard, gym and a grab-and-go food market.

Cycas currently manages Hyatt Place London Heathrow Airport and has recently announced that it will be operating three hotels in France – the dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotel development by Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport and the 78-room Hyatt Place hotel conversion in Rouen. With five Hyatt hotels within its portfolio, Cycas has cemented its position as a proven partner and operator of the Hyatt brand.

Resolution Property, which has agreed a franchise agreement with the Hyatt affiliate, is developing the hotel in partnership with Berkeley Capital Group.

Eduard Elias, partner and co-founder of Cycas Hospitality, said: “As a preferred operator for international brands and investors across the UK and Europe, we are delighted to be reinforcing our position as a partner of choice for Hyatt through this agreement to manage the first Hyatt Place hotel in London’s city centre. This property will be our fifth with Hyatt and our second Hyatt Place in the capital, so we are proud to be bringing the well-regarded brand to life in a key location.”

Nuno Galvao Pinto, regional vice president development, Europe at Hyatt Hotels, said: “As the fourth Hyatt deal confirmed this year with Cycas Hospitality, we’re excited to build on our relationship with Hyatt’s first city centre Hyatt Place hotel in the UK. With London’s further expansion in the east and the on-going regeneration of Aldgate and Whitechapel, Hyatt Place London City/East will be well placed to benefit from both business and leisure guests and will be a significant contribution to our growing select service portfolio in Europe.”
