US: Embassy Suites by Hilton has broken ground on a 175-unit property in Plainfield, Indiana.

Situated close to Indianapolis International Airport, the property is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2018. It is located at 6089 Clarks Creek Road and is owned and managed by Sun Development & Management.

To commemorate the groundbreaking, local officials, including Robin Brandgard, president of the Plainfield Town Council; Eric Wathen, president of the Hendricks County Council; Jaime Bohler Smith, executive director of Visit Hendricks County; and members of the business community joined Alan Roberts, global head of Embassy Suites by Hilton; and Bharat Patel, chairman and chief executive officer of Sun Development & Management Corporation, for the ceremony.

“This groundbreaking marks our sixth Embassy Suites hotel with Sun Development, and we could not be more pleased to continue to grow our presence in Indiana with them,” said Alan Roberts, global head of Embassy Suites by Hilton. “Located close to Indianapolis International Airport, which welcomes more than eight million passengers every year, this hotel will fulfill business and leisure travellers’ need for a full service, upscale hotel that offers spacious accommodations, value-added amenities and our signature outstanding guest service.”

When completed, the new Embassy Suites Plainfield/Indianapolis Airport Hotel & Convention Center will offer free made-to-order breakfast each morning, a complimentary two-hour evening reception with drinks and snacks, and suites complete with a separate living area, formal sleeping area and a bar fitted with a microwave and refrigerator. Guests will also have access to an indoor pool and on-site restaurant. The hotel will feature a state-of-the-art convention centre with nearly 26,000 square feet of meeting and function space that can accommodate up to 2,000 attendees for business and social events.

“We’re delighted to once again partner with Hilton to be part of the industry-first All Suites portfolio,” said Chris Mayer, president of Sun Development & Management Corporation. “The Embassy Suites brand is the perfect addition to this market, and we look forward to delivering the warmth and hospitality that travellers have come to expect from the brand once construction is completed.”

The new hotel will feature Embassy Suites’ concept, Design Option III, which allows for a variety of suite-styles to meet guest and developer needs, a modern, open-air atrium, and an enhanced guest experience with more natural light throughout the hotel. The concept’s flexibility allows for increased efficiencies across construction and operational costs, while remaining true to the brand’s pillars.</p
