UK: London serviced apartment owner/operator Cheval Residences has been listed number 18 in The Caterer’s 30 Best Places to Work in Hospitality for 2018 Awards.

The awards, held in partnership with employee engagement experts Purple Cubed, celebrate operators who put people at the centre of everything they do and in the process deliver an exceptional product. Each of the 30 Best Places to Work winners have been recommended by the majority of employees.

Cheval says it is very proud to have a fair distribution of male and female colleagues at all levels within the company. Cheval offers flexible working opportunities for all colleagues and continues to train and develop all colleagues equally; this is demonstrated positively within the gender pay results. Recently, the mean gender pay gap was measured throughout the company and came out as 0.6%, meaning the average female salary was 0.6% higher than that of the average male and the difference in the median gender pay was 4.8% higher for male colleagues.*

In the bonus period, Cheval confirmed that 86.6% of male colleagues and 82.8% of female colleagues received a bonus and the difference in the mean and median bonus pay was higher for female colleagues. In a recent survey, 91.54% of Cheval employees were proud to work for the company all or most of the time and 80.36% of all employees believe that in terms of equal pay, Cheval is brilliant and does it well.

Cheval is dedicated to providing excellence in all that the company does and the benefits that employees receive reflect the company’s devotion to employee satisfaction. Amongst the core benefits on offer to Cheval employees include; salary extras – a benefits website that gives great discounts to staff and their family, bonus opportunities, long service recognition and a friends and family rate for staying at the residences. Cheval also has a ‘You Rock Programme’ which is an internal recognition programme that rewards colleagues who make extra efforts to exceed expectations.

George Westwell, director of Cheval Residences, said: “Being included within The Caterer’s Best Places to Work in Hospitality for 2018 Awards is really something to be proud of, and a reflection of the loyalty and dedication of the team  here at Cheval Residences.  I’m incredibly proud and grateful for employees whose ability to exceed expectations at all levels is nothing short of outstanding and I am thrilled that this award is a result of internal satisfaction; it is a real testament to the brand.  We recognise that an engaged workforce makes for a positive and more productive team, which then mirrors the guest experience and satisfaction.”

* It is important to note, that this is not a comparison of the pay rates for men and women doing jobs of equal value.
