UK: Work has begun to convert a historic Grade II listed mansion in West Bridgford, Nottingham, into an aparthotel.

Bridgford Hall, which dates back to 1768, will be operated by Birchover Residences. The renovation of the Georgian building is being partially funded by a £1.495 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The hall was bought by Rushcliffe Borough Council in 1923 and was used as its offices until 1982, after which Nottinghamshire County Council’s registration service moved in. It has been empty since January 2014. As part of the renovation, the council’s registrar serviced will move back to the hall, meaning people will be able to get married there.

Birchover Residences, which is owned and run by husband and wife Carl and Lisa Bridge, already operates aparthotels in Nottingham and Derby.

Carl Bridge said: “We’re thrilled that Birchover Residences will be custodians of this historic and beautiful building. We’re looking forward to meeting local people and businesses to see how we can work together for the benefit of the West Bridgford community. We have a great working relationship with Rushcliffe Borough Council, the Registrar Service and all parties involved to this stage. It is a very proud moment for my wife Lisa and I, together with all our team and we look forward to being part of this fantastic project for many years to come.”

The restoration started this month and is being carried out by Woodhead Heritage. It is scheduled to finish in by April 2017.
