Australia: Accor has partnered with local developer Zapari to open The Sebel Canberra Civic.

The Sebel Canberra Civic features 144 luxury serviced apartments over 11 floors, consisting of 126 studios with kitchenette facilities, nine one-bedroom suites and nine two-bedroom suites with full kitchen facilities. The ground floor space is home to retailers, restaurants and bars, leased to external operators.

Situated in Canberra’s CBD, the new-build hotel is located within the Civic Square precinct, surrounded by a mix of office buildings, government departments, restaurants and entertainment venues. Civic Square is home to ACT Legislative Assembly, Canberra Museum and Gallery, Civic Library and Canberra Theatre, along with many local cultural organisations.

Simon McGrath, chief operating officer, Pacific for Accor, said: “This is a strategic and significant new development for Canberra and we are delighted to open our first Sebel branded apartment hotel in this city and we are excited to once again be working with ZAPARI. The city is experiencing a burgeoning supply of upscale apartment style accommodation and The Sebel Canberra Civic exemplifies both the sophistication and independent flexibility that our guests expect from the Sebel brand.”

The Sebel portfolio consists of 28 hotels across Australia and New Zealand.</p
