Philippines: Developer Riza Roble Hu is building 88th Avenue, a 10-storey high-end serviced apartment and hotel close to the Cebu IT Park.

Stuart Shaw, sales and marketing director of 88th Avenue, said the tower will have 108 keys: “We’ve got a combination of a serviced apartment and hotel. We have a ground floor where there are bars and restaurants and a second floor for office space,” he said. A basement car park can accommodate 200 vehicles.

“The concept of having an area that’s pedestrianised, and bars and restaurants that are going to predominantly fill our ground floor area will make people dine outside. The environment also lends itself well to families with children. We’re looking to make a little play area for the kids so parents can enjoy their dining, which gives it a more family perspective,” Shaw said.

According to owner Riza Roble Hu, the comp[any sees a big demand for serviced apartment hotels in Cebu: “We’re open to foreigners and overseas Filipino workers who want to bring their families to the hotel and want to stay longer in Cebu. Everything is here in Cebu,” she said.

Because of its strategic proximity to the Cebu IT Park, Shaw said there is also significant interest from business processing management owners, company executives and business owners who are looking for a comfortable space where they can have a short-term or long-term stay.

“If you’re looking at the market, we believe that Cebu is looking for more serviced apartment options. With the nature of the businesses as well, you tend to find English and Korean schools here. It’s more entrepreneurial, so a lot of more small startup businesses are coming over here and looking to utilise the call centre scene,” Shaw said.

Each unit will be equipped with 50-inch flat screen TVs and super king-sized beds with memory foam mattresses.

Hu said they sourced their materials from the most trusted companies in China and they were hands-on in the process, from the biggest to the smallest details.

“We want to manage it ourselves,” she said.

88th Avenue will have four penthouses with Venetian-style sunken areas for jacuzzis. All units will have a balcony.

88th Avenue is located along Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue, Banilad, Cebu City. It sits on a 7,500-square-metre property and is scheduled to open in November 2019.</p
