Giving something back

The business world we work in these days carries on at an increasingly frantic pace and it’s easy to become so focused on doing your job that you neglect to stop and look at the bigger picture from time to time.

This can be as true of organisations as it is of individuals, so it is heartening to see Ascott making a commitment to supporting two very important charities in the UK, Action for Kids and The Evelina Hospital.

Action for Kids works with young people with learning disabilities, aiding them in their transition to adulthood and helping them prepare for work. They also provide mobility equipment for disabled children and young people not provided by the NHS.

The Evelina Hospital is the second largest provider of children’s services in London, and one of only two specialist children’s hospitals in the city.

The company is not only donating money and accommodation for the charities, but wants to inspire its staff to support them through volunteering, giving each of its employees three days of paid volunteering each year.

I’m sure many companies in the serviced apartment sector have similarly laudable CSR and charitable initiatives in place, but we don’t get to hear enough about them. Please email me at george@servicedapartmentnews.com and let me know what you and your company are doing.
